Email marketing done right can turn prospects into clients which will generate profits for you. Beginners to email marketing might be tempted to fall into practices that can turn potential clients away, but when email marketing is done properly it can enhance exposure for your brand, build trust in your business, educate prospects about the worth of your products or services.
Negative attitudes toward receiving email usually revolves around unsolicited email messages from unknown businesses trying to sell unwanted products or services. No one particularly likes this type of email which is why it is called spam. So to make email marketing work for your business you have to overcome being an unknown business to your recipients. How?
Step one is to let your potential email recipients know that they will want the product or service you will be sending them information about, or for which you will be sending them an offer. But how do you let prospects know this before you've even sent them your first campaign email message? The only way to do this is to have your prospects ask you to send them more information or an offer for your product or service. That's a neat trick isn't it? How do you do it?
This is where opt-in pages come in. What's an opt-in page you may ask? An opt-in page is a webpage with initial information about your business or product and offers a hook or lead magnet - something that your ideal prospect would want - for free. In order to receive the very desirable gift you are offering your prospect enters his/her email address and hits the submit button on your opt-in page. Now (since they have given you their email address) your prospect is looking for your email message to arrive, or at least they hopefully recognize it when they receive it.
Now all you need to do is fulfill the promise of delivery of the lead magnet you offered. Also included in your delivery email is notification that there may be future correspondence from you that may offer them more valuable products or services. Then all future emails from your business will make it into their inbox instead of their spam folder and not receive the automatic delete button press.
This journey to the inbox sounds easy enough, and can happen fairly quickly. If you get good at it you can successfully use email marketing to make money for your business and even offer email marketing to other businesses to promote their products.
